Once again The Matthew Fulham Foundation have Partnered with the Hinckley And Bosworth Borough Council to provide a bursary up to the value of a thousand pounds. As part of our partnership to put on “Proms In The Park” on 12th June 2010.

 

Objective of The Bursary:

 

* To offer financial assistance to a talented musician wishing to further their expertise in their chosen field of music.

General Information:

 

* Applications must be submitted by post or handed into the Council’s reception to arrive no later than Friday 20th March 2009.  If handed into the Council’s reception please obtain a receipt. Please note the Council Offices close at 4.30pm on Fridays

 

* All successfully short listed applicants will be required to attend a public audition to take place on 16 May 2009 at the United Reformed Church, Hinckley at 2.00pm.

 

* The venue will be available for rehearsals by pre-arrangement only

 

* The musical piece to be performed is the applicant’s choice and should last no longer than 5 minutes

 

* Anyone requiring accompaniment must make their own arrangements (a piano will be available at the audition venue)

 

* The overall successful applicant will be required to perform at Proms in the Park on Saturday 13th June2009 at Hollycroft Park, Hinckley

 

* The judging panel reserve the right to approve the suitability of the piece to be performed at Proms in the Park

 

* The judging panel’s decision is final

 

* Family members of trustees of the Matthew Fulham Foundation or any of the judging panel are not eligible to apply

 

* Full details about the audition and Proms in the Park will be given to the short listed applicants by letter

Who can apply for the Bursary?

 

Applicants are eligible to apply if they play a musical instrument or are a singer.  Music that is digitally produced is not eligible.

 

Applicants or their parents must be resident in the Borough of Hinckley & Bosworth.

 

Applicants must be aged between 16 and 19 years at 31 August 2008.

 

Applicants must be nominated by a music teacher, either school or private and the application must be supported by a parent/guardian or another professional person.

 

 

What may the bursary be used for?

 

The bursary is for one year only.

 

The bursary is for £1,000 and can be used for:

 

* Purchase of instruments or accessories

 

* Music and/or singing lessons and master classes

 

* Weekend music courses

 

* Travel expenses related to the pursuit of their expertise

 

* Or a combination of the above

 

Advice and guidance will be available to the successful applicant to assist in meeting their aspirations.

 

 

What happens after I apply?

 

Application forms and reference forms must be returned by 4.00pm on Friday 20 March 2009.  A letter acknowledging receipt of your application will be sent to you by return. You will be informed if you have been successfully short-listed by Friday 3rd April 2009.

 

 

What do the Borough Council and the Matthew Fulham Foundation expect in return for a bursary?

 

The overall successful applicant will be required to sign a Bursary Acceptance Form. In signing, the applicant agrees to adhere to specific terms and conditions:

 

*  The bursary should be acknowledged in any publicity about the successful applicants musicianship during the term of the bursary.

 

*  The successful applicant will be required to complete an evaluation form by the end of the term of the bursary.

 

*  The successful applicant will inform Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and The Matthew Fulham Foundation of developments and progress in their musicianship.

 

*  To adhere to any other condition that can be applied to an individual application.

 

* Allow any photographs taken to be published by the MFF and/or the HBBC to publicise current and future bursaries.

 

* Allow any photographs to be used to assist in raising funds for the Matthew Fulham Foundation.
