I remember talking to a teacher at junior school after a glowing report, I jokingly said are we talking about the same Matthew? She replied ‘Matthew is your son and you will always love him, its important that what he does makes other people love him to!’
So we think the best memorial to Matty
is to let others who loved him speak of him.

In all the time that I knew Matthew I never heard him say anything bad about anyone else. Matt set us all an example with his integrity, thoughtfulness, kindness and consideration for others and if anyone were to ask me for a ‘life plan’ without question I know I would say here it is, take this approach and you’ll not go far wrong. I like to think of him as my “mucker”.

I know Matthew found me a thorn in his side at times – him being so laid back and me quite the opposite but I had huge respect for him as a person. He was a typical teenage lad – full of fun, popular, likeable and frustrating all in one and a talented musician. It was through his music that Matthew shone and his confidence developed.
