The Matthew Fulham Foundation

I am incredibly grateful to the amazing musicians on stage this evening - they have all, without exception, given up their time for free.
As soon as I read about Matthew Fulham’s death, and that he’d been a talented young trombone player, I knew I had to do something to show my support. I’ve been overwhelmed that everyone I’ve spoken to has felt the same way and wanted to come along and get involved.
To have some of the country’s finest musicians performing for this cause is a tremendous honour and demonstrates that brass players are a unique community - all genuinely caring, generous and supportive of each other.
In particular the efforts of Peter Collins, leading the first half, and Bob Hughes, directing the second, have made my job of organising this event much easier.
My personal thanks to Roger Harvey too, for his support and advice. I would also like to thank BBC TV’s Dominic Heale for agreeing, without hesitation, to compere proceedings, accepting only half a lager as his fee! Joe De Bie of Synthax UK is kindly recording the whole event for us - if you would like to buy a copy please take a few moments to fill out the enclosed sheet and we’ll let you know when the CD’s have been produced.
The event has been generously sponsored by Leicester-based brass band Foresters Brass 2000 who not only
contributed towards the cost of the venue but have also donated as many CD’s of their own brass ensemble as we can sell with all proceeds going to the charity - please do buy one in the foyer at the interval or end.
Thanks also to the staff of the Y Theatre and of course to you for coming along. If you would like to be kept notified about similar events in the future please fill out the enclosed form and place it in the box near the exit. The family and friends of Matthew Fulham are doing an incredible, inspirational job of turning an absolute tragedy into such a positive and important campaign - I know your support tonight is much appreciated. Finally, I hope you thoroughly enjoy ‘Music for Matt’...
