On the day we were very busy. It started around 10 a.m. When we helped to transport the Wilkinson’s walking group to Market Bosworth water trust for the start of their sponsored walk.

We then went to Hollycroft Park to set o the net to hold the balloons until we released them and also Gazebo’s and tables etc. Ready to start blowing up the balloons.

We had a little set back, in as much as we ran out of gas after blowing  up around 350 balloons. We still needed to blow up another 450!

Bearing in mind it was a Sunday lunch time, where were we going to find somewhere that would give/sell us some Helium gas to continue filling the balloons we still had to inflate? The local balloon supplier and paper shops that sold helium filled balloons were closed.

We approached our local ASDA store who had allowed us to sell the balloons in their foyer. Yes they did use helium but their supply had run out and they were waiting a delivery. The staff at the local ASDA store were very very helpful, they rang around all the stores that were within a a 10 mile radius of Hinckley and eventually found that ASDA at Foss Park were willing to supply us with a Helium tank to continue filling our balloons. A BIG THANKYOU to ASDA.

So we managed to release the balloons after the Wilkinson’s walkers had arrived at the park around 3:15 p.m.

A very poignant sight for us, as we remembered our son and all the others that have died in foreign lands at the hands of terrorists

Our thanks go everyone that helped on the day to make it successful.
